Once your Glass TV is activated your Sky Q TV subscription will be deactivated.

You need to order 4 Stream pucks to replace your Q mini boxes.

@JeffP3 wrote:

I am about to take order of my Sky Gkass Gen2 TV to replace my Sky Q box. The million dollar question- Will this all still work?

No. It won't work.

As soon as you receive and activate a Sky Glass TV, any Sky Q subscription will automatically cancel.

If you wish to have your streamed Sky TV package on other TVs in your house, on those that you currently have a Sky Q minibox attached to, then you need to add the Whole Home package to your Sky Glass streaming subscription (at additional cost) and order 4 stream pucks to replace the Q miniboxes. The first puck is normally free with the Whole Home subscription but additional ones come with a £39.95 activation fee for each puck. This fee is to cover the cost of postage and warranty on the pucks as they are loaned to you for the duration of your Whole Home subscription.

Be aware that each puck will need its own independent broadband connection, either via ethernet or WiFi which is fast enough to sustain the SkyOS which runs on the puck and on the Glass TV. The pucks do not communicate with the Glass TV, they are independent devices. It's not like Sky Q where the miniboxes would communicate and receive data from the main Q box. The pucks also do not act as WiFi repeaters so will not extend your WiFi coverage in any way.

Sky will also probably ask for all your Sky Q equipment to be returned to them after 30 days. They may not however, as Sky Q is nearing the end of its life and they are less concerned about getting equipment back for refurbishment. Keep a hold of it anyway until your Sky Glass cooling off period has elapsed in case you decide it doesn't work well enough for you, then you can switch back to Sky Q on your existing equipment with ease.

Good luck!

When I switched from Q to Stream and multi room to Whole House I only got one puck free to replace two mini boxes. I paid £49.95 for the second mini box which I had to return. I then had to pay £39.95 for the extra puck. It just feels a bit tight for something you don't own. The OP will have to pay £79.90.

These 'activation' fees are a means of getting some extra money out of the customer but if you treat it as a kind of extended warranty payment it sort of makes sense. They will swap any minibox or puck which fails during a customer's contract.

The OP in this case will actually have to pay £119.85 in activation fees if they want to replace 4 Q miniboxes with pucks (1 x free & 3 x £39.95). Not ideal, particularly as it's non-refundable, so if it doesn't work well then they'll be out of pocket.

It just feels like if you move from Multiroom to Whole Home as an existing customer it would be a tiny bit of good will to replace the same number of boxes you return like for like. The extra 120 quid is very poor customer care.

Any up-front fee is automatically refundable if the move to Stream is cancelled within the month-long 'cooling off' period, and negotiable if cancelled after that for good reason.
