Technically not difficult at all (and absolutely shouldn't be chargeable) : it would however have to be a corporate decision, and Sky has always been almost wilfully reluctant to permit UI customisation.

Suggestion to sky tech teams

This is really a request/ message for the tech guys at sky tv.

Having recently got a sky Glass gen 2 tv for my mum who has dementia could someone at sky please come up with a way of the tv starting up on the last programme rather than the menu.

I completely understand the reasons for starting on the menu for those able bodied among us if I can phrase it that way but to someone with dementia it completely throws them. When I moved her to sky glass and sky tv/broadband I didn't realise this would be the case as every tv I had encountered before started on last programme. People with experience of family members/ friends with dementia will completely get how the extra process of getting from the menu to a channel so she can then use the favourites buttons I have set up for her really really is genuinely like rocket science to her! The quickest way we can get her to be able to watch tv is by getting her to press the blue mike button and say BBC1 into the remote. This however is not easy for her simply because to turn the tv on/off is 1 press of the button top left but to to talk she needs to press and hold down the mike button, two different actions but to her they are just buttons and therefore she is confused by the fact they don't work the same either. It can take ages to turn the tv on because she holds it down or if she manages that stage ok today she then struggles to get a channel because she's pressing the mike button once. I originally thought voice control was the answer and to be honest was the reason for going the sky route but despite using alexa for years she just will not talk loud enough for the tv to hear and understand and again if she uses the mike button her brain cannot work out what she wants to say quick enough by which time she's let go of the button. All dementia related problems I know but as the problem is growing and affecting more and more customers it cannot be beyond the tech guys skills to come up with a simple fix even if such customers had to pay a little extra to access it?

Hi @Garracc

This has been asked for a number of times already on the community. Sky don't publish or comment on their roadmaps, so we don't know if or when any such feature will land. Generally sky don't comment on the community as it's customer helps customer.

The only other way to get to a last watched channel is pressing left and then select. But this might be just as hard than the current method you have outlined.

MikeAlanR
