I have recently added a Hive Plug to my Sky Glass TV. The Hive plug is set to come on and off a certain times of the day therfore resetting the TV each time.

Would this damage / affect my Sky Glass long term?

I've used a time-programmed smart switch to turn my Glass off daily for the three years I've had it, with no adverse effect.

Hi @Alfred1512 I don't see why it should have any detrimental effect on the TV but I think doing it more than once a day is a bit unnecessary.

I just have a stream puck but when I did have a Glass TV I used to unplug it once or twice a week and believe this is why I had very few issues.

TVs are generally meant to be left in standby. They are designed to download software and firmware updates whilst in standby so as not to disturb viewing.
Sky Glass is somewhat unlike most other smart TVs though in that it relies on a constant connection to Sky's servers for much of its function. When the TV is fully turned off at the mains it breaks the server connection entirely. The connection will re-establish when the TV does next receive power and connect to broadband, but doing this several times a day is not advisable in my opinion.
Glass does tend to require regular reboots to cure temporary glitches but this shouldn't be multiple times a day. The small power surge every time power is restored to the TV is never good for the internal components either, particularly not in a mass-market, mass-produced product like Glass.

I have a smart plug on my 55" Gen 2 Glass, but I only use it around once a month when I leave the set off from around 7a.m. until 3p.m. just to give it a clean start.

There's not much point really the amount of energy drawn by a tv in standby is negligible

inhave mine connected to a Tapo smart plug to save me pulling the plug if ever required ......
