Optical Output on the new Sky Glass Air

I have a new Sky Glass Air, I'm hard of hearing and have used the Optical audio output to send sound to my TV adaptor and then to my hearing aids successfully, however when I select the optical output it cuts the sound to the speakers and then anyone else in the room can not hear anything. Was the Optical output not meant to be used this way? It's pretty disappointing as my old TV was able to output sound to both the speakers and optical port at the same time. I have tried the pass through, auto and pcm settings neither of which made any difference. Does anyone have the same issue or suggestions?

ps I saw that hearing aids are not supported as a Bluetooth device. Are there any plans to change this?

I have been considering the Sky Glass Air but as a hearing aid user I also need to connect my tv listener to the optical output. This would be useless if we couldn't have the speakers at the same time for my husband.

have consulted the accessibility team but couldn't get an answer so I wondered about other people's experiences.

Hi - I don't believe Sky has opted for this type of setup which is a shame. I now have the volume on higher and use subtitles when available. Once you get used to subtitles it's not so bad. Would be nice if Sky got their act together though.

Thanks for coming back with that. I'm disappointed in Sky! I really need my TV listener as well as subtitles so I'll have to look into other options. It's so hard to find a system that will work without being able to try it first.
