I think that is probably what I needed to hear at this stage thank you, probably should have done my homework before I lept in and on the offessive.

The overall SKYOS experience, bar a few niggles has been good so far and I was a die hard Sky Q user before. I will admit I paired up the old Sky Q remote (You cant do the same on the puck unfortunetely) but quite enjoying the playlists. Pinning apps as well as stations would be a good addition if anyone is listening.

Sometimes i've found the Auto mode doesn't quite give the best picture based on local lighting conditions.

If none of the provided viewing modes make a difference, it may be worth going to Settings -> Picture and Sound -> Picture, then scrolling down to Custom Settings and adjusting settings like hue/tint, colour saturation, and white balance. If you are playing around with the custom settings and completely mess them up and make things worse, you can reset them back to default in the Settings -> Picture and Sound

Thought I would follow up now it has almost been a week. I have not had any luck getting the white balance even close to any of the other TV I have owned. Everything has a very strange nicotine tint to it. I have tried every setting going.

In addition, I have also noticed that there are considerable dirty screen patches, it was initially just on the Sky OS solid screens but the more I use it, the more I notice it on other solid colour screens. They look like vertical lines, that continuously go Light and dark or just dark square patches.

Overall the picture quality is terrible, I dont know if the screen is faulty or this is just the overall quality.

I have taken delivery of the replacement device and while the dirty screen effect is less prominant, it is very much still there. This time its narrow vertical stripes.

I think for many (my wife included) it would not bother them, however for someone like me I just cant unsee it. This is the case for all manufacturers, not just Sky.

Sky Glass Air may suffer more because it only has global dimming, not local dimming. The whole image is therefore illuminated evenly regardless of what is on the screen, which can highlight areas of DSE more clearly.

You could continue to play the panel lottery until you (hopefully) get a TV which suffers less from it, but you should perhaps lower your expectations of what is achievable on a budget TV. It is possible to get LED backlit LCD screens with little or even no visible DSE, but it's entirely random as to whether you get one or not.

Only an OLED or mini-LED LCD TV with local dimming will give you a guarantee of no DSE.
