I can see the potential for many looking for an easy viewing option to plump for Sky Air if they are also in the market for a new or second TV.

Personally having had fingers burnt I wouldn't but I do get the appeal for many.

Especially tempting if you already have a decent sound setup and don't need the built in glass speakers

Agreed, looking at specs and price point certainly seems positioned correctly for someone that just wants a standard TV.

I'm of the view that you can get a decent Smart TV that isn't reliant on a Sky subscription to work at its full potential for the same money. Air wouldn't be anyone's TV choice if it's to be your main TV.

I can understand the attraction though if you need a second TV but can't pay for one all in one go.

Personally, I think Glass Air is probably perfectly fine if you're wedded to Sky's eco-system in the same way that people are wedded to Apple or Android or Google for their mobile and TV operating systems.

If you just want a cheap streaming TV running SkyOS and are happy to pay for a monthly sub to it, then Glass Air seems perfectly adequate. Cheap and cheerful, perfect for a bedroom.

A cheap smart TV running a different OS with Freeview, Freesat and/or Freely on board, along with an app store to download your choice of streaming apps, will give you much more flexibility and versatility, particularly should you decide to stop paying for a streaming TV subscription from Sky.

SkyOS is really a harvesting tool as much as it is an operating system. All that data it's gathering about what you watch and who in your household watches it and for how long, all is useful to the individual channels and streaming services Sky has partnered with. If you're happy for Sky to sell all that data then Glass and Glass Air is perfect for you. It's how they determine which new content to promote to you. Viewing data is very useful and makes Sky money.

Yes, other TV operating systems do the same, but to a lesser extent than Sky. The global streaming platform Comcast has created does a lot more than just send out live channel streams and host apps. It's a very sophisticated tool for the streaming TV market.

Very affordable especially at the entery level and if you already have a good sound system and are looking for a new tv great value for money at the price for the sizes,

Just looked at Argos and they have a similar spec'd TVs for similar money, however, Argos are selling a 2023 TCL for £600 but comes with a 144Hz screen which should be better for gaming and watching F1.

Actually, the more I look, the less value for money Glass Air appears to be... it's main selling point is really the favourable long term 0% loan agreement for financing, and SkyOS if you're into that...

My advice - if you need a TV, do your research.

Currently have Sky Glass Gen2 downstairs in the living room and 1x puck through a TV up in the bedroom which is the multiroom option.

if I wanted to replace the Puck with a new Glass Air TV would I need to pay for a new entire subscription? I would be looking at replacing the Puck.

Is that the subscription that is £10 which is effectively multiroom? So potentially just the cost of the TV?
