Freezing, black screen and error messages

When scrolling for a while or quickly for something to watch it randomly freezes and I have to unplug it and plug it back in, I have error messages come up saying it can't load home screen and now it randomly goes black screen when I'm in the middle of watching something it's got so much worse over the last 7 months. I just give up now! Does anyone else get these issues? I just can't wait to cancel in August now! Ridiculous how bad it is.

Read the marked answer and the last two or three pages for a possible workaround until Sky fix this firmware issue.
