Hi @RobT2025

It is not a TV designed for gaming, it's designed for general entertainment. While it doe have a LLM etc you will always be limited by the 60Hz panel. If you are after a TV for you enhanced gaming you will want to be looking at 120Hz.

MikeAlanR

I've just ordered a Sky glass gen 2 and come across this issue on the forums but can't find the post. Mines not been delivered yet and a bit worried about the lag/5 second stutter/allm issue. Has this been fixed yet? I currently game on a 60hz TV and it's fine for me, but the issue with the glass gen 2 not switching to 60hz etc properly has got me worried. Should I cancel the order? Someone said a workaround was to load your game then turn off TV and turn it back, that's not what I want with a new TV at that price. So has the issue been resolved?

You can get a 120Hz OLED panel with ALLM and VRR for less money that will give you much lower latency. Add a Stream puck to it for the exact same Sky streaming TV experience.

Glass is fine if you want it for watching telly with half decent sound. For serious gaming you need a serious TV.

I'm only a casual gamer, 120hz doesn't interest me at the moment, and there's not many games that will do 120 frames that I'm interested in, my son has a 144hz monitor for his ps5, I was more concerned about the issue of it switching to 60hz correctly as I read there's been an issue with it and the switch of TV as a workaround. I was wondering if they fixed that issue, I'm playing assassin's creed shadows on a 4k 60 hz TV at the minute. Do you know if the Allm / game mode issue is still there?

@Anonymous As I understand it, there is a £25 collection fee payable if you wish to return the TV in its cooling off period. Also, take pictures and video evidence of the TV working and its condition if you do return it in case of damage disputes.

Thanks, yeah I always take photos and keep receipts, had an issue with 3 5g hub once saying I didn't return it and tried to charge me, until I showed proof of postage and signed for delivery. I suppose £25 is better than paying for it for 4 years. Just hope I'm happy with it then I won't have to.

@Anonymous Just be aware, there is a firmware issue affecting some Glass customers, with both generations of Glass, where the screen goes black but the sound continues. You might be lucky and not encounter it but if you do it's useful to know Sky are working on a fix, there is no timescale for one to be released but a restart and then going into the Amazon Prime app for a few seconds then exiting to the Sky home screen seems to sort it for the day. It's a workaround to the issue whilst we wait.

Fingers crossed though that you won't get it. Also, most Glass users feel that an ethernet cable connection is more stable than just using WiFi. If you do connect via ethernet make sure you turn off WiFi in the settings.

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for it, it's shocking, was already worried about a the Allm/game mode issue, thankfully that is fixed but at the price they charge jeez what next. I know things have issues but the Allm issue was there in 2024 and only just been fixed. It's off-putting when ya reading these horror stories and their Facebook ads and comments don't help.

Unfortunately I have an eero router which only has one lan port and that's hooked up to a switch upstairs for the kids consoles, the router will be sat less than half a metre away so I'm hoping I'll be good, untill I figure out how to do it. The Xbox has 100% signal and I'm on 1gig up and down from so 🤞 Was looking at buying a new router with more lan ports soon. I have kids and a missus so buying a new TV outright is out of the question at minute 😂

@Anonymous That's what makes Glass a good option to some people. Not everyone has the cash at hand to buy a TV outright in this economic climate.

Despite the current issue with the black screen of doom, I still like having a Glass TV. It meets my needs but then I'm not a gamer.
