Connecting via Ethernet cable

How many of you connect your sky glass tv via an Ethernet cable? I have 160mps fibre which I believe should be sufficient enough for Glass, I have considered upgrading to a 320mpbs package. I take it the Ethernet gets you a better connection?

@Reevo87 Ethernet ports on Glass & Stream are 100mbps ports, however if wifi is unstable ethernet will give you stability, but if you use ethernet you do need to urn off wifi on the TV/Puck and restart the TV/Puck

From what I gather the maximum speed the TV can get is 100mbps regardless of what speed above this your broadband is.

However, an Ethernet cable provides a more stable connection. When I got the First Gen Glass the WiFi would lose connection frequently but once I got an Ethernet cable it rarely loses connection. I recommend it - don't forget to turn off WiFi in your settings though if you do use a cable.

What sort of Ethernet cable would you reccomend please? Just something bog standard

I've always run my glass tv from wifi and never had an issue ...... likewise 3 extra pucks dotted around the house.

Cat 6 or Cat 8 would be my recommendation.

I have both my 55inch sky glass tvs connected to the Internet by ethernet cables, i am on sky gigafast broadband full fibre broadband 900mps

Cat8 is for 40Gbs server room interconnects: it's a little excessive for a 100Mbs chipset ; )

@Reevo87 any new Ethernet cable you can buy will be Cat5e or higher which can carry 1Gb/s for up to 100m. The highercstandards are more difficultvto run as they tend to be stiffer.
