Gen 2 best picture settings - not impressed

Just recieved my Gen 2, 55" not impressed with the picture so far, really washed out, especially bbc news, everything looks really dull, can't seem to get it right, I've got backlight off, can anyone give any pointers please?

Turn the backlight on. Much brighter with it on. Then play around with the backlight setting and the advanced settings to get the colour how you want it.

The suggestion on the Gen 1 Glass was to have 'auto backlight adjustment' switched off: note that this is not the same as 'local dimming'.

Well had a play about with the picture settings on my Gen2, got to say I'm impressed, looks good now, also it seems alot quicker at loading apps than the puck, I will be keeping it, superb

Can't help with the Gen2 but you could try the settings from this thread , made a massive difference for my Gen1

can you post your pic settings when you have ones you are happy with for now sport seems best for sound or auto.

Tried the settings on the Gen2, didn't like what it made the picture look like, reverted to my previous settings, these are the photos, still not quite right they look as though they've got too much red in them, a bit more playing me thinks

No worries , I played around for ages before I discovered those Gen1 settings , wonder if the original poster of those will get a Gen2

Try reducing the red a little and increasing the green slightly . I did that on my Gen 1 and the picture appeared a little more balanced (at least to my eyes it was more pleasing).

These are on the Extra-vivid settings, too much colour I think

I'm not a fan of the Extra Vivid mode, some like it, but I think it's too garish. It's what pleases you though. I suggested turning back the red a little because you mentioned it. I did it on my Gen 1 and turned up the green a tad, that suited me, but it won't please everybody. Just tinker until you find a picture that pleases you.

The settings I've got on my Gen 2 are :-

Viewing mode - Custom

Picture - Auto backlight - off

Aspect ratio - Auto

HDR picture mode - Bright

Dolby Vision picture mode - Bright

Default streaming format - UHD

Custom settings - configure (go to into these settings)

Contrast - 80

Sharpness - 30

Video brightness - 34

Colour saturation - 40

Hue/tint - 50

White balance - didn't alter this

Local dimming - off

Colourspace management - didn't change this

The picture seems a lot better what settings do you for dolby vision ?
