Hi,

can anybody help me with my sky glass tv issue.

i have it hard wired via Ethernet direct to the router.

firstly they told me sky live camera apps would freeze and the screen would just go black. You could only get it back by doing a 240v reset.

ive called Sky numerous times. Firstly they told me it was my Netgear router as I wasn't using theirs and had to pay for Wi-Fi Max. This didn't resolve it. They sent me a pod for some reason so I've connected it to that and hasn't resolved it.

so now I have WiFi Max router hard wired to pod hardwired to sky glass.

Now it also loses connection to the router overnight and won't reconnect even if you reset the connection in settings. As soon as you do a 240v reset it connects straight away. It does this every single night.

ive factory reset the tv and that hasn't resolved it.

Make sure you have the following settings set in your Sky Glass settings, if you do not at the moment;

Turn wifi OFF under Network if connected via ethernet.

Set Network standby mode to ON and Overnight power saving to OFF

I guess it's a balance of whether to spend a few pence more on power, or put up with the inconvenience of your broadband connection possibly dropping out.

What you are finding is that once the network connection shuts down it can ( and usually will) take a while for it to be re-established again when the TV is woken up.

In terms of additional power consumption, i really doubt it will be that much, you may only be looking at an extra couple of pence per day.

Thank you.

The glass tv comes on with a blue screen stating No Internet and a Settings tab. I click on this setting tab and Reset internet but it just says No Router found. I can do this for 10mins. In the end I turn it off at the wall and back on again and it connects instantly once booted back up.

It never did this before the Sky Pod so was wondering why. As it is all still Ethernet from Tv back to Router

This does sound like the issue, that yes is a common issue on the community.

Especially as you mention recently changing connection via a Pod.

We have seen that those who use a managed switch rather than direct to router, do need to turn off the option for it to come back cleanly. But, also often just those connecting via a mesh or even direct to router.

In the overnight power saving mode it does drop off the network connection after sometime and as you are seeing does not reinstate it promptly, other than a forced power reset.

We have found over the last few years of those with a Sky Glass. TVs and Sky Stream pucks that had similar issues and did turn off the overnight power saving, had no further issues

As for a cost, it's going to be a few pence or even less a month of a saving to have the option ON.

If you have a sky glass air there is no fix

Overnight Power Saving is hardcoded into the firmware and cannot be toggled off directly in setting like the other sky Glass

Because that specific power-saving feature is locked on, the system is forcing your device into a deep sleep state every single night. When you turn the device on in the morning, the Wi-Fi card fails to wake up or request an IP address from your router quickly enough, causing the "No Wi-Fi" bug.

You can wait and refresh, do a turn off and turn on, or change your router settings to your TV ip to be a 2.5ghz which does ip requests faster. [Yes the bug exists even with ethernet cable connection]

Yes, this is a Sky Glass issue and only they can fix it. Our best option is to work around it by forcing the TV to use a static IP address, Ethernet and the home button to power it on. Sky appears unable to fix many ongoing bugs promptly.
