SKY Glass/Puck remote

Trying to steup, I note you need to pull the paper strip to get the batteries to work. Done this, bot paper wripped.

Try taking back off, paper still stuck in the batteries. Trying to get it out with tweezers , think I've done it but can't see how to remove batteries. Remote stil not working but not sure if I've put it back together correctly. Is this a know fault with the papper?

Hi @Jamietax Removing the back of the remote can be a problem the first couple of times as it it very stiff.

I find holding the remote at both ends with the buttons down and my thumbs on top and then applying pressure and pushing with one thumb and pulling with the other in the direction of the arrow is sufficient to remove the cover. Note the back only moves a few millimetres and can then be lifted off.

A number of people have found that wearing rubber kitchen gloves helps to give more purchase on the plastic components.

Thanks, once you get the back off how do you chnge the batteries, they are tiny and seem to be encloed in! I note they say the batteries are not for Retail sale!

@Jamietax they're standard AAA alkaline batteries. Just use your fingernail or finger tip to lever the + side of the battery up. Failing that use a small screwdriver or the inked end of a ballpoint pen (might ruin the pen though).

Hi Thanks but there are not AAA, much smaller and in-cased so I don't think they ant you to get them out . Maybe I've got a new model. Never seen batteries like this before. I try and up load picture cheers

Yes how strange. That looks completely different from mine too. It looks like maybe you've some how taken the back off rather than sliding it off, is that possible? It looks hollow and strange.

Yes I had to take it apart to get to the papper stuck in the battery, I don't think it was design for that. Be interested to see what SKY say as either these batteries are super long lasting or you will need a new remote when they wear out. As I say, if you look at the battery caseing its design so you can't get them out and I don't think you can by these batteries.

It would be useful to hear from others, particularly those getting a Glass Gen 2 if they're seeing this also.

It really feels odd that they'd block you from changing batteries. It's almost like a manufacturing error.

You can buy replacement remotes on Amazon, but you are probably eligible for a replacement considering this but you'd have to reach out to Sky for that.

They are AAA batteries, you're seeing them from the other side of the remote though. Your pic is looking at them from the top (buttons) removed. The base (no buttons) is the bit that slides off (although can be difficult the first few times) to access the battery chamber to change them.

Oops! I wonder if it might look more like a conventional remote, with removable batteries if the back had come off from the correct side.
