Why is sky glass so much harder to use than sky q . Who ever has designed it needs to change it the playlist thing is awful just have recordings. It either doesnt record or u put something on in it comes in halfway through and spoils the whole thing . The TV and sound are good but the actual software is awful. You record something on BBC 1 and it decides to record it on I player which I didn't ask for I player is rubbish you can't fast forward or rewind properly on it . Sky q works much better wish I cud swap back

Hi @garethrigg

Sky Glass doesn't record. There is no local storage. Sky's cloud recording system is a lot more stable than it used to be, but some broadcasters will only allow the playlist to be a bookmark to their catch-up services (e.g. BBC, ITV). This is due to it being different technology and content rights etc.

If you are with in your first 30 days you can cancel and return to Q. If not you may be able to keep your TV (and pay for it if on finance) and also return to Q. However you would need to ask Sky as we are fellow subscribers here on this customer helps customer forum.

Here is some more info on the playlist: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/your-playlist-and-tv-guide-sky-glass

MikeAlanR

Agree with everything Gareth has written. My 19 year couldn't work the intuitive functionality of the remote and Glass TV, so at 53 I have no chance. It is a brave attempt at improving something which has unfortunately failed for me as a 25 years+ Sky customer. When the superfast broadband fails (more often than standard sky copper) I have no TV,, as I have no dish. The picture quality of the Glass TV is not as good as my 10 year old Sony Bravia and I am currently halfway through Gogglebox and don't seem to be able to get it back from where it dropped out. It is currently saying "Loading" which I last saw in 1996 on Freeserve. I live in London btw. If I have an issue, I have to contact the Sky Community, and not Sky themselves, who are actually accountable. I suppose it's 2024 and "it is what it is".

Hi @locky101 and welcome to the forum. I fully agree in relation to the picture quality of Glass which is to say the least is fairly poor. Believe it on not it was even worse but improved over time with various updates. As mentioned earlier in this thread Glass is 3 year old technology at 2024 prices. I sold my Glass TV last December and moved to a decent OLED smart TV, soundbar and a stream puck. This gives an outstanding picture quality.

Getting used to the streaming platform (Glass or Stream) is definitely a learning curve but you get used to it.
