<LI-SPOILER>Hello i am leaving sky tv next month and keeping sky broadband. I have two sky glass tv's and when my subscription ends i want to log into my NOW tv to watch TNT through amazon/discovery plus and watch sky sports through NOW tv.

1. Can i log into them through the APPs on sky glass (with no subscription) of do i need an amazon firestick?
2. When my subscription ends do i have to set up the APPs on the sky glass for iplayer, channel 4 etc or will they automatically come on like a smart tv?
3. Will SKY send me 2 new remotes to use the SKY glass tv's with subscription?

Thanks Gemma

</LI-SPOILER>

Hi @gemgem237,

1. No you will need a firestick as with no active Sky subscription you can only use HDMI.

2. Again the apps won't work so you will have to use a 3rd party device like a Roku, Apple TV, Firestick etc.

3. The remote is the same whether you have a subscription or not, if you don't have a subscription with sky, they won't replace the remote.

2. Apps WILL work providing you keep your sky account active and only cancel your subscription. And whatever you do do not factory reset the tvs .... ever

3. yes you will get 2 new remotes with different layouts sent to you - can take up to approximately 8 weeks to get to you -  pic of remote below

The glass basically becomes a dumb monitor either go down the Freeview route no smart or go 'smart' no freeview but with access to the apps only Sky allow. Smarter than a smart TV hmmmm!!!!

If you're going for Now the app on Apple TV is very good plenty of funtionality as Now uses Apple's in house App for Apple TV, the picture quality is also exceptional plus of course boost so totally AD free none of the FF skip nonsense.

So an initial cost outlay but worth it for all the apps and excellent up next plus TV launcher.

You will also loose access to TV guide. You can watch some freeview channels by turning off the internet connection and using an aerial.

See: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-input-app-on-sky-glass

And Sky will send you a new non voice input remote. There have been a few customers on this forum who got a stream puck before they were loaned so they own them and they have confirmed that the apps have continue working providing you still have a Sky account (even with an inactive subscription).

However it's practically an irrelevant thing for the stream puck seeing how few customers actually own them anyway.

The apps still worked on my Stream puck after I cancelled.

I factory reset the puck then tried relinking it to my Sky ID (even though I had no subscription) and, like others on here discovered, it kept my old playlists. It even let me add shows from the EPG to those playlists & would still trigger the appropriate app to play back those shows on demand. It wouldn't allow me to watch any live channel streams obviously but everything else still seemed to work. The same should be true of a Glass TV. I don't know if it would go on like that forever as I factory reset the puck again soon after & sold it on eBay as it was customer owned.

I thought with sky you could only have 1 Glass TV and x amount of pucks

Hi @ThePope27You can have up to 3 Glass TVs and 6 stream pucks. See the link below:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/your-devices-sky-glass

@ThePope27 wrote:

People stopped owning pucks ages ago when they virtually first come out didnt they ?

Everyone who acquired one or more pucks alongside a Glass television during the year between October 2021 and October 2022 owns the puck(s) as well as the television set(s). This was also the case for the standalone pucks between October 2022 and February 2023.

All subsequent Stream pucks switched to the loan model on February 23rd 2023, so there's a total of about 16 months worth in legitimate private ownership: only Sky will know how many that is, but it's going to be quite a large number given that Glass television sales were substantial in their first year and a significant percentage of sets will have had pucks shipped with them.
