Realistically only Sky knows the hardware failure rate: forum posts are almost always about problems and so cannot give a true reflection. Transient lines on the screen have been referred to several times, but not a permanent one.

Reported my faulty television yesterday, grey line across the width of the television, after doing the usual forced reset I was told that I had 4 options as the set was out of warranty, put up with it, buy a new one, claim off home insurance or cancel.

I asked to be put through to cancellations who informed me I had to pay what was owed on the television before I could cancel, so I paid £286 for a television that's on way to landfill, well done sky

Wasn't the £286 to complete the payments on the loan you agreed to to obtain the TV?

Yes it was my only option to pay in full so I could cancel sky, not saying I shouldn't have to pay it just thought I might have been offered a refurbished set as I believe this is a very common problem, thanks you for replying
