All other devices work fine with the WiFi. Is this coincidence that since I switched to virgin broadband my sky device has stopped working as well?

Thats quite possible as different routers will provide different strength WiFI signals. Sky Glass and Sky Stream require a strong, stable and consistent WIFI connection and the devices are prone to crashing when there is any WiFi interference or small drop outs, as these devices need a permanent connection to Sky's servers to function correctly, unlike most wifi enabled devices.

Its why a number of customers get a better experience using ethernet cables when using standard routers provided by most ISPs.
