Bad reception when raining

Based in Ireland. Have a sky+ when it rains often get no signal. but lately the general reception is also very bad. I spoke to someone who said water is getting into lnb best to ring sky.

So I would upgrade to sky Q if same stations. Issue is as it's a old house and the box was installed upstairs we use a magic eye(also very think walls) . Was told last time (I think) the new sky q won't work with magic eye. So the engineer installed the sky+ that's well before covid. So I'd like to ring them before ordering the sky q so (a) it will work with the box in another room using magic eye? (2) replace the dish with a new one with no rusty wires or lnb would be good (3) once off install charge, and no change to stations I currently watch.

Any advice, is appreciated

Sky Q doesn't support the Magic Eye setup unfortunately.

Everything else on your "wishlist" is fine.

Thanks for the quick response. Is there a workaround to use a magic eye with a sky q? Like some plug in that could do the same but with sky q?(the 2026 equivalent of a magic eye with sky) I went through the ordering a sky q web page but nowhere I could find a number to ask them would it work with a magic eye or what's the alternative.

The official SKY Q solution is to have multiscreen with a SKY Q mini box

you might be able to do something similar by using an HDMI splitter and an HDMI to RF converter to allow you to watch using an RF signal in the other room - you would either need to rely on the remote in bluetooth mode working in the other room (the range is quite impressive) or you would need a 2nd remote in IR mode & some older type kit to send IR signals to the other room (I used to have IR Pyramids to send receive)

Bottom line is possibly do-able but rather messy - might need further research

IF I ordered a Sky Q box and had bought a 'HDMI splitter combined with an HDMI to RF converter' would they install it. ive no idea about this stuff maybe its plug and play but would the sky engineer set it up if i bought the device, does anyone think? where he was installing the new device. essentially im not bothered about recording tv etc but the dish is rusty and the cables around it are the same, a cable going from the disk to the room was damaged and repaired so that might get replaced too. so if they didnt change my tv stations and ONLY charged around €155 for a once off install and i could get it working i would go with that tbh

No: that's entirely outside the remit and training of a Sky television installer.

As noted above, Sky Q has its own Multiscreen solution which is a significant revenue generator: it wouldn't exactly be in the interest of Sky Group and their American owners to install methods of rendering this unnecessary.
