I have dish + hd box +variety legacy pack + basic [woeful] broadband. I have been offered signature package + some extras + much upgraded broadband which all seemed ok until sky/openreach started to give me the riunaround on broadband install date. I urgently need upgraded broadband very soon. Being old and not tech savvy is it advisable to opt for sky stream service and a different broadband provider who can install sooner.

Sky Stream is a different product to Sky+ and needs a minimum of 25mbps for HD and 35mbps for UHD, if your current broadband service doesn't offer these speeds then getting stream now will result in a poor experience.

Most notably you can't record in the traditional sense.

If your Sky+HD Box is working fine, my advice would be to stick with it for now.

The most important thing is that your broadband is fast, stable and interference free. I used an independent full fibre provider with my Sky Stream puck when I had one and it worked fine.
It's very easy to connect a puck to a WiFi network generated by any router on any ISP. It's up to you to make sure the connection is good enough though - this is potentially a downside for some customers. There is no engineer support for Sky Stream - it can require a bit more troubleshooting from the customer to get and maintain a stable service.
