Paring viewing card with different sky hd box

I have requested to pair my viewing card with a new sky hd box . It says pairing successful and channels will appear shortly

I have waited half hour and nothing

can't even get through to a human to speak to !!!

@Allie2 From 29th October 2024 sky has removed the ability to pair viewing cards to replacement boxes

viewing cards are now locked to the last box it was paired too (note: viewing cards are non transferable between accounts - hence buying a second hand box with a card included will NOT work)

any new viewing card sent will not work regardless of what you were told

you will need to call sky and discuss your options regarding upgrading to one of sky’s current tv products to continue to receive sky tv services

@Allie2 the pairing success message is somewhat misleading. The Card and your box haven't paired for the reasons posted by @SKY1992bf

Great - have been a sky customer for over 25 yrs . I don't want sky q as the price is ridiculous with no loyalty incentives

so basically I'm paying £55 for sports package that I can't even access 😡

It stated there was a problem with the hard drive so not able

to rewind / record or watch recorded programs etc

Out of interest , I am still in contract u til feb 27 . I will not be renewing as other companies offer so much more for the money

if I can't get my box working will sky waiver the penalty for leaving before contract ends ?

You'd need to ring Sky and ask them. If you're a Sky Sports subscriber then you may be able to switch to NOW TV instead and see out the rest of your contract using it. There have been reports of Sky doing this in reverse, ie, those with a 6 or 12 month NOW TV Sky Sports subscription being switched to Sky Sports via Sky Stream without any penalty.

Not necessarily.

The latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.

Possibly, but I doubt it. They're likely to say you could have switched to Sky Q (or Sky Stream)

If you've still got the old Sky+ box, replacing the hard drive would be a way forward.
