04 error on Sky + H.D. box.

Last Tuesday I recieved a message that my Sky card was not available. It was an 04 error on a 14 year old Sky + H.D. box.

Yes.It says. This Sky viewing card is not authriosed. Please insert new card or go to Sky help.com

@theredhouse55555 thanks - that, I recognise. Have you previously ordered then cancelled Sky Q? Doing so can cause this error, sometimes months later.

Either way, you'll need to contact Sky, I'm afraid, to request a replacement (not 'new') Viewing Card. In their enthusiasm, they may tell you they can't do that, and you'll have to upgrade. Unless things have changed very recently, that's not the case.

@theredhouse55555 no, it's a natural consequence of previously ordering Sky Q. When you order, your existing Sky+ Viewing Card is scheduled for deletion at some future point. That's what has happened. But as in my previous post, you can request a replacement Viewing Card.

I have been in touch. They have said it is nothing to do with my cancelation of Sky Q. They have said eveything should be fine again in up to 2 hours. Many thanks for your help.

I doubt that to be true , Ordering Sky Q automatically triggers a card cancellation that Sky cannot reverse also and card signal refresh does not take anywhere near 2 hours to complete 😞

If your box is not fixed by now then it will be the card that needs replacing unless Sky already sent you a card in antisipation of the Q install that you can swap with the cancelled card

I have been given 2 options. Sky Q on Saturday or a new card for my Sky + H.D. box. Trouble is if I cancel Sky Q for a second time I am presuming my new Sky card for my Sky + H.D. will not work eithier.

Clearly that was incorrect. Unfortunately it's not the first time that Community members have been proved to know and understand more about Sky processes than their customer service advisers.

They are very reluctant but with my disability since birth and seperate stomach issues since 2022 I really do not want the hassle of a new Sky Q box. Not yet or perhaps the Sky Satellite shutdown in 2030.

@theredhouse55555 hopefully Sky will take the view that as all satellite services will likely end at that time, there's nothing to be gained by killing off (and annoying customers ) existing Sky+ equpment in the meantime.
