Sky +hd box is working but I can't watch tv because I keep getting the message searching for channels.

If the message is as you posted, it doesn't sound like a Sky box error.

It sounds like a message from your TV.

There was a problem with the service in the block of flats where I live.

It has now been fixed and everything is working fine.
