You cannot split the cable, each connection to a dish has to be a seperate cable

Thanks for your reply Annie. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Would I need to attach 2 splitters to the Sky box (one to each cable) ?

No you CANNOT use any splitters on a satellite cable, there needs to be a separate connection on the dishes LNB for each cable, if you want two boxes you'll need an LNB that has at least 4 outputs to accommodate the 4 separate cables

Each box sends power to the LNB and tell it what frequencies to receive, if you split a cable between two boxes then the LNB is likely to get two conflicting instructions and even damage due to over powering

What you are trying to do is both not possible and dangerous!

@Keith1471 just one minor nuance to waht @Annie+UK advises.

If (& only if) you wanted to use another box in a different room on the same channel or a channel on the same polarity & band (hi/low) then you used to be able (so possibly still can) get splitters that block power on the secondary output

I used to have one of these with my multi-satellte set up to allow me to record off one box and watch on another but it is very limiting

(This was in the days before receivers with multiple inputs and inbuilt recorders)

As @Annie+UK says connecting 2 receivers to the same LNB without such blocks/filters could result in damage to either box and/or the LNB

Ah that is somewhat different.

With SKY HD you can run a coax cable from the box to the other room providing the TV in the 2nd room has an analogue Tuner

The SKY HD boxes (I think all the later ones at least) have two RF outputs - failing that you can get RF splitters

They also support 'Magic eyes' which I think you can still get that allow you to use the remote in the other room -

Thta all said, I have to admit I am rusty on SKY HD boxes as I have had SKY Q for nearly 8 years

@Keith1471 if you want HD quality and stereo sound on the second tv, you can use an RF/HDMI modulator but they're not cheap - around £100.
