Thank you. This sound plausible but sometimes when I drop connection, it says that it can connect to the router but can't connect to the internet.
I use other equipment, such as phones, at a greater distance from the router with no problem.

Until recently we used Sky to connect to the internet but since we moved to EE we have had nothing but problems. Every couple of days the box keeps losing its connection to the EE router, or losing connection to the internet. Tonight we had to enter the password twice!
Every other device (laptop, phones, kindle etc.) has had no problems maintaining its connection.

This is so annoying. My wife and I joke, somewhat seriously, that this is Sky's way of rewarding what they see as disloyalty in moving to a competitor, even after being a customer for nearly 20 years.

More likely you have a weak wifi signal where your Sky+ box is located.

Nothing to do with you moving to a different broadband provider - my various Sky boxes have had a reliable Internet connection despite me never having had Sky broadband.

It also seems a bit odd that when the connection is lost it also loses the password.

I use Ethernet it's the most secure and reliable connection to the router

Does your Sky box have a static IP address assigned by the router? You usually find this in your firewall settings

Wifi is an odd thing. I've also seen in the past where devices can connect to the router but not the internet and the solution has been to re-establish the WiFi connection. I've no idea why it does it. Likewise, distance from the router isn't the only factor - you can have local, nearer spots where wifi is poor or suffers interference.

I'm guessing that your new router is using a different wireless channel from your old Sky one which is why wifi reception at your Sky box is different.

I've found the following discussion on another forum ( https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/Sky-Q-and-EE-app-issues/td-p/1491023 ) and it suggests creating a "compatible" wireless channel for the Sky Q box. I'm trying this now, and will let you know if it works.

My grandma has a similar issue on one of her old Sky+ boxes. She has two of the ones that actually have the WPS button on the front. But one of the boxes were straight up, no longer connect to the Internet anymore. It will just sit on the please wait screen whenever you enter the password.. I can only assume that the built-in Wi-Fi card has gone on her one, and I'm not sure if it is beginning to fail on your one. Providing this can happen, I would assume so

The latest EE router offers a compatibility network for connection to older devices which may not support the latest WiFi protocols. Have you tried connection to that?
