Old Sky Box

I have an old Sky box and can't access sky plus - what,s the cheapest way to upgrade the box. Don't need it all round the house.

Is it worth cancelling and getting sky stream?

@Joan2711 if your Sky box has failed, you can't replace it with another Sky+ box, I'm afraid.

The nearest equivalent is Sky Q, which is a satellite based service similar to Sky+. Sky were offering a free upgrade to Sky Q for Sky+ subscribers, but I think it depended on your taking a Multiscreen subscription and a Mini box as well as the main Sky Q box. Unlike Sky+ you don't own the equipment and it has to be returned on cancellation.

Sky Stream is a streaming platform (unsurprisingly) and is solely internet based, so you would need a good broadband service to be able to use it. Stream is notably different from a satellite service, not least that it has no local recording service. As with Sky Q, you don't own the streaming box.

I'd suggest giving Sky a call to discuss your options and the cost, with them.
