Can I as customer change my own LNB as engineer won't do it

Yes, you can do whatever you want to your dish as it becomes your property after Sky have installed it. I changed the LNB on my old Sky dish when our builders accidentally knocked it. It was going to take a couple of weeks to get an engineer appointment so I bought a new LNB on Amazon, got it delivered next day, climbed a ladder and swapped it over. Only took 10 minutes. Thankfully there was no dish re-alignment necessary. It worked perfectly.

Yes, the dish belongs to you to do ith as you see fit 🙂

Obviously the critical consideration is ladder safety, followed by not disturbing the dish alignment (elevation, azimuth and skew, which sounds like a firm of undertakers in a Dickens novel ; )

Last time they wouldn't let me have and put LNB in as they couldn't do things in a safe way which I understand but it's the only place that I want it ( out of sight ) as all that's needed is changing that then they can do there bit

Please Note: Sky+ is now a legacy service that Sky are replacing with their newer services: Sky Q (all issues will be fixed during a Sky Q install), Sky Glass and Sky Stream

Sky no longer send engineers to Sky Plus customers unless they are already covered by Sky Protect insurance

Note that if you are intended to do this to facilitate Sky Q installation, Sky installers are instructed not to go ahead with deployment of a box where the dish isn't accessible for potential future maintenance, even if it has a Q LNB on it when they arrive.

I understand all explanations given but how do I move forward to get sky q,can a sky engineer or someone visit me so we can overcome problem,

Any ideas !

The only solution would be for the dish to be relocated where Sky can access it, and where it still receives an adequate signal.
