Using Sky + via a FreeSat dish

We are shortly moving to a new house. We have a Sky+ box. The new house has an existing FreeSat dish (not a Sky dish) and cabling in place

Will we be able to connect the Sky + box to the FreeSat dish via the FreeSat cabling and be able to wach Sky as normal?

Yes you should be able to do that.

It should work if you have the Sky+ HD since it is compatible with the Low-Noise Block (LNB) downconverter with the Freesats and for Q with a Hybrid LNB, however usually engineer will replace LNB entirely if you wont use freesat with Q only.

So yes you should still be able to enjoy your shows on your Freesat dish on Sky +.

Note however, that Sky+HD is an older system. Upgrade to Sky Q for no extra cost* to get access to apps**, larger hard drive***, 4K/UHD****, Multiroom, and more features never before seen on Sky+.

Or, if you can, look to switch to Sky Glass / Stream, the future of Sky without a dish. Cancel anytime*****.

* Cost of Sky Q Upgrade is usually free for all paying Sky + customers. Look for an email from them to confirm you are eligible.

** Availability of apps requires a Wi-Fi / Ethernet broadband connection with a minimum reccomended speed of 25 Mb/s. Connection via phone line is no longer supported on Q and hasn't been on Sky+ since 2013.

*** Larger Hard Drive statement depends on hard disk size of original Sky+ Box, and of the Q box. FOr reference I have said about 500GB sky+ and 1 TB sky Q.

**** 4K/UHD service requires a compatible TV , box, and UHD subscription. Not all channels support UHD.

***** You own the Sky Glass TV. For Stream you can cancel your subscription anytime by opting for a higher subscription price.
