It sounds like she might have an old SD box so come August she will lose these channels so you would need to purchase her a Sky+ box so she can continue to access the channels in HD. If you do this then make sure you get a 890 or 895 box.

Hi I have an elderly relative who needs help with her sky tv package. She doesn't use the internet or need broadband but has a very basic sky tv package which she pays just over £40 a month for. She has had this package for years and years. At some point I think her local tv shop have sorted her a sky hd box. She constantly gets messages saying that she will lose her channels in august. She really wants Eurosport. She does not want to upgrade or change her box as she would struggle to work a new one. Will the channels disappear in august? Should she be paying so much per month?
if she ends the package would she still be able to watch digital tv through the sky box as I don't think she has an aerial.

She struggles with the phone. I have power of attorney can I speak on her behalf? Although I am finding it very difficult to get help on the phone.

sorry for so many questions and thank you for any help or advice in advance.

Thanks for your reply. Her box says hd but I think sky thinks she has still got the sd one.

Something like this on Amazon.

*EDIT - If they already have an HD box then the warning messages can be ignored - they are just to alert those with really old SD boxes.

If she does not have Movies or Sport then it should be OK, you can double check her box is HD by tuning to Channel 5 HD

Hi caesarome thank you for this,

However I spoke to sky this amount times because it wasn't updated in the system. Alongside was told that wouldn't need to register POA .

Just advising on the question from patience93 as my experience was didn't need to send POA to speak on behalf as was registered password holder however this wasn't sufficient for some details or actions that were needed on my dads account. For your info (its clear your fortunate enough that you are not needed as power of attorney for someone or had to use those powers therefore wouldn't know the difference between full document and partial) you need to send full document with perforated stamp at the bottom of the front page, saying 'Validated' with some companies it's only the last page with signatures hence why I was advising this information again clear that you don't understand the full POA process in sending such documents
