Screen keeps going plain blue, all usual lights are still working, but sound and picture goes off.

I reset the box it seems fine and programmes are watchable. 10-20 mins later screen turns blue or grey. No picture or sound. I reset again and same thing happens. Etc etc... very annoying

Turn off your Sky box at the plug. Disconnect the HDMI from both your tv and your Sky box. Swap the ends over and reconnect it, then turn your Sky box back on.

Or replace the HDMI cable with a new one.

I managed to speak to a lady from sky and she has arranged to upgrade me to skyQ. But I will try the hdmi cable change around as well as I have to wait until mid April for the new box to come and be installed. Thankyou
