Connecting a new remote

Just bought a new sky+ remote to replace a old one that doesn't work properly .. trying to connect it to sky+ box , but I can't find the instructions to do it ?

Just press the Sky button on the remote as it should then start to operate your Sky+ box.

There's no need to connect a remote to a Sky+ box - it should just work. Unless you've bought a Sky+HD remote and want to use it with a Sky+ box (for example)?

A Sky+ remote should control a Sky+HD box without any configuration.

If you've just bought a new remote, I would have thought it would be a Sky+HD remote like the one shown here: https://www.pricerunner.com/pl/95-4578575/Remote-Controls/Sky-Sky-HD-Remote-Control-Compare-Prices

You can find the model number of your Sky box on the rear panel, I think.

It will be easier to help if you can clarify which remote and which Sky box.

The remote is a sky+HD remote and the system is a sky+hd box . I've check the back and there is no model name on it

What happens after you press the big Sky button on it will it not operate your box then ?

No nothing woks ... didn't know if there was some sort of pairing setup I have to go through

You posted previously that you have a Sky+HD remote and a Sky+HD box. Either way, no pairing is needed. Either a Sky+ or a Sky+HD remote should control a Sky+HD box without any configuration.

If it doesn't work, it looks like either the box or the remote is faulty.

No, though it does increase the likelihood of it developing a fault.
