Sky Email Inbox - Almost all email has disappeared

Hi,

I'm desperate for help.

I've had a "sky.com" email address for 18 years, without issue.

I access my email like everyone else I know, via the Outlook App on my PC and alos on my iPhone/iPad

This morning I've searced for an email from last August as I needed to get a specific detail.

Something has happened to my inbox and it is only showing emails from today (03.05.24) back to 02.04.24 - then nothing, whereas there should be everything - and then shows emails from 12.09.2018 back to 2003. So six years of emails have disappeared. They are not n any sub-folder.

I've contacted Sky help in the UK. They said they could not help. They gave me an 800 number but that does not exist and is clearly a US number.

I can't find any way to contact Yahoo in the UK to try and get help.

The information contained in the emails that are now missing as critical - I need to be able to get them back.

First, can you see them if you log in here using your browser: https://www.sky.com/signin/email

If not you could try Yahoo's recovery process here, which might recover some of them: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/sln2552.html

Failing that, I'm afraid they're gone for good (unless you kept a backup, of course).

Sadly emails disappearing like this do seem to happen with Yahoo so no matter what happens with the request you put in via the link posted by @Mark39 it might be worth giving some thought to setting up an alternative email address at somewhere like Outlook.com or Gmail where you emails will be safer.

Yes, I've logged in to my web browser and my inbox is the same as I'm seeing on the apps on my PC, iPhone and iPad.

I'm on the phone as we speak, talking to someone who is at least trying very hard to help.

I was fobbed off twice by Sky - telling me to contact Yahoo directly. After an hour I finally managed to do that and they were adampent - they do not have access to Sky email and that I would have to go back to Sky.

It's about perseverence, someone there at Sky has acknowledged that Yahoo could fix this issue but there is no way that he can contact Yahoo on my behalf to explain to them how to fix this.

@Seabright+Mills I'm afraid that's right. There's no point talking directly to Yahoo because they can't help. Sky advisers do occasionally refer callers to Yahoo, I suspect because of a desire to help, when they know they can't do anything themselves.

Random deletion of emails is regularly reported here. The only solution I've ever known to be capable of recovering some emails is the process I linked to before.

I've completed the process but because I've no idea when the Inbox was part-emptied, I can only wait and hope that it was withing the last 7 days and that therefore I MAY get some emails back.

The biggest frustration that all this has happened by itself - I've changed nothing or delated nothing.

I know that technically, if someone at Sky/Yahoo wanted to help and do what is necessary to recover the missing emails, they could, but they won’t. 18 years of loyalty to Sky get you no where – time to get an Outlook.com email address and retire my sky.com address….. shame really but no real choice.
