emails sent o my sky account are being replicated to a (non-existant) outlook account.

An email is sent to my sky (yahoo) address. I receive it but the email is also sent to a (non existant) outlook.com account.

The sender receives a mailer daemon error message to report that the email could not be delivered and assume it refers to the sky address

Is this a single sender, or multiple senders? Are these emails from y9u that they're replying to? Or emails to you that they're creating from scratch?

@Mark39 these are multiple users each receiving the error messages when they send emails to my sky.com address at Yahoo. They are not usually replying to an email that I have sent

If the senders are getting the non-delivery report, it doesn't sound like a problem with your Sky|Yahoo email.

As a test, try sending yourself an email, and see if you get the non-delivery report.

@jayach I have used my Gmail account to send a test message to my sky.com account. The message is delivered but Gmail is sent an error message saying that the email could not be delivered to this fictitious outlook.com address

@D+and+AJ+Edwards I agree. The non-delivery report indicates that it's the sender's email account generating the spurious address. I can't see how your Sky Yahoo. Mail account, as the recipient, could be involved

Your post crossed with mine. Can you post an image of the failure message, making sure that your personal information isn't included.

Thank you for your help but I think it might be sorted!

My brother had his son-in-law with him and he took me through the settings in the sky.com account eventually reaching "Auto Forwarding" and there was the offending outlook.com account.

So all of my emails have been getting sent there and the inbox is now full. Hence the failure messages.

If you didn't create the auto forward, then that is a bit suspicious, so you may like to change your password, just in case the email account has been compromised.

However, as the option to add forwarding addresses was removed some time ago, it must have been like it for quite a while..

@jayach I have tried several times to change my sky password, following the link that you sent me. But although I do enter my sky account address I am repeatedly taken to the gmail account on my mobile and that is not what I want to change!

My Sky Inbox contains two headings, Yahoo Mail AND the gmail address. It was set up this way some years back when I had the laptop 'serviced'.

Although it is sometimes convenient to have the two addresses together should I get rid of the gmail link and if so how do I do that?

How odd that the reset email password link takes you anywhere other than Sky.

You could try logging in here: https://www.sky.com/myaccount/my-details as that also has a link for resetting your password, but I suspect it will take you to the same place.

As I don't know quite how your Gmail account is being shown along with your Sky one, I can't really advise if or how you can remove it. Is it when you log in here: https://skyid.sky.com/signin/email that you see both accounts?
