Moving all Sky emails to Gmail

I'm trying to use the "import mail and contacts feature on Gmail as I want to migrate across, however every time it fails on POP servers and IMAP servers. I have tried 993/995 with and without SSL and using a generated password. Please advise?

These are the imap settings that should work:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server

Server - imap.tools.sky.com
Port - 993
Requires SSL - Yes

Are these what you have tried ?

I've tried both, however nothing seems to work with either POP, IMAP, port 993 or 995?

As Sky use Yahoo to provide the email service you should be able to use the method described here:

What error do you see with this ?

That's the method I am using as its the official google one, however sky doesn't come up with this yahoo login page and just fails to load.

Figured it out, generated password is a MUST, the pop server you suggested, but HAS to be your full email not just user ID for POP server name.

One more to try and that is the Yahoo settings as this is what works with my Sky email account into Gmail:

pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

port 995

It's strange you were not getting the OAuth challenge (that when it asks for your email address and password)

If you use the POP server, I don't think you will get your contacts transfered. (Hope I 'm wrong)

Ahh yes it does need the full sky e,mail address as the username so glad you have it working.

@jayach I'm not worried about contacts as I use google contacts for my phone and don't use contacts on Sky as it's so clunky

I'm have this same problem. You say that generated password is a MUST . Can you please explain what this means and what you did. I have tried all suggested POP servers but cannot get the Gmail account to import from the sky.con (yahoo) email.

@GeorgeMorrison a generated password is a unique token generated by Sky which you use in place of your normal Sky password when you login to the server.

When setting this up @GeorgeMorrison the generated password needs to be used instead of your usual Sky email one.

I can't generate a password .its simply not there in my settings. Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean by it is not there in your settings as the link to generate the password has been posted further up the page here so it is this one:
