Hello

I've just switched from TalkTalk (formally Tiscali) to a Sky. business account.

After swiching, I can no longer send emails, however, I can receive emails (my former ISP email is still active). I use Microsoft Outlook as my email client using pop.tiscali.co.uk and smtp.tiscali.co.uk and IONOS for mail forwarding to my domain.

I've read so much online of others having a similar issue but no actual resolution.

Tried contacting Sky Support but didn't get any joy, even when I asked if someone with smtp expertise could ring me back, but I was advised that this was not possible. I guess I'm so used to John Lewis customer service.

If I cannot send emails, I may have to revert back to my former ISP, otherwise, I may not have a business much longer, if I cannot reply to customer emails.

It would be appreciated if there is a speedty resolution to my query otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to return to my former ISP.

Looking forward to resolution.

Regards,

Yunas.

I have no idea if TalkTalk allow access to their SMTP server once you have left.

All the info on setting up your app/client to access TalkTalk is here:

Email settings | SMTP, IMAP & POP3 | TalkTalk Help & Support

You really need to ask TalkTalk how your leaving affects your email access. (probably would have been better to ask before leaving)

Not sure why you mentioned John Lewis, as their broadband was provided by PlusNet.

Hello Jayach

Not really a laughing matter from my perspective.

I'm not a techy. I've been doing some checking and to send email I need smtp. My outlook mail client is currently configured for my TalkTalk email. All I want to do is continue using my email. I have tried changing the smtp setting to smtp.tools.sky.com but this didn't work. I presume I need to set the Outgoing server settings but I haven't received a Sky email address.

All a bit too technical for me.

The John Lewis remark was in reference to my sky telephone conversation.

I'll contact Sky and see if I am still within the cancellation period and cancel.

I suspect @jayach is referring to the somewhat unlikely scenario that a Sky adviser might have smtp expertise.

However, I don't see how your switching to Sky should affect your ability to send emails via the TalkTalk server, as long as TalkTalk themselves allow it. There's nothing Sky do to disallow it.

Sky no longer allow new Sky Yahoo Mail addresses.

It will avoid these sort of problems in the future, and look much more professional.
