Unfortunately Gmail no longer works with Sky email accounts, as you have found, however just about any other app will work. Personally I use Outlook, but Yahoo also have their own app (riddled with ads, but functional)

Hi,

I've recently lost access to my Sky Yahoo emails through my phone and tablet via the Gmail app (both Android devices - Oppo phone & Samsung tablet). There were emails showing in my Gmail apps from before 08 August this year but none since then. I tried removing the accounts from my phone and tablet and went to set them back up but all I keep getting is: 404. That's an error. The requested URL /? code= ******************** was not found on this server. That's all we know.

I went to access my Sky Yahoo email via an internet browswer and had to set up 2FA which now sends a text to my mobile before I can access my emails via a browswer. I've since tried setting up the accounts on my phone & tablet again now I've got 2FA enabled thinking that it could have worked but unfortunately it didn't.

I've also been into mySky account settings page as I wanted to try resetting my password but that doesn't work either, nothing happens when I click on the link. There was also a link for generating a 16 digit app password that I've used many times in the past but now that isn't working, it just says: Sorry, something seems to have gone wrong. Please check your connection and try again later.

I'm at a loss as to what to do as I need access to emails on my devices (especially my phone). Something seems to have gone seriously wrong since the beginning of August and I wonder if it's anything to do with the mandatory 2FA that Sky have introduced. Is there any way of having the 2FA permanantly removed?

Any suggestions for regaining access to my emails via android/gmail app, resetting the mySky account password and permanantley removing 2FA from my account would be gratefully received.

How are you trying to set the accounts up on your phone and tablet, are you trying to do it again via Gmail or via the email app on them, if it is the later have you tried selecting Yahoo as the email provider ?

Many thanks for your reply.

I have tried re-setting up the accounts using the Gmail android apps on my phone and tablet. I have selected Yahoo as the account provider in the Gmail app but just get the error message stated previously. I have also tried using Other and manually inputting the imap & port settings etc but that isn't working either. Usually I'm pretty much OK with tech but have now reached the limits of my abilities and am at a loss as to what to do next. The problem is that I just keep getting server error messages back which I have no control over.

Hi jayach,

Many thanks for your reply and advice. I've just installed yahoo mail apps on my phone & tablet and they both work perfectly now. It's funny how I have a yahoo email account in my gmail app that is still working faultlessly as I would have thought that if the sky yahoo email wasn't working then it would affect my yahooo mail as well. It is a shame about the ads in the yahoo mail app but it's necessary putting up with the ads to be able to access my emails whilst I'm out and about.

All the best,

Lawrence.

I've spent quite a bit of time trying to find a way around it, but got nowhere. (so far)

It has been like that ever since they brought in OAuth authentication, but till now we've been able to use a generated password to get around it.
