Sky Email Not Receiving in Outlook – App Password Link Redirects to Sky With No Option Comment:

Hi all, hoping someone can help. My Sky email receives messages fine in Yahoo Mail, and I can send emails from Outlook on my phone — but Outlook won’t receive anything. Yahoo says I need an app password for third‑party apps, but the link just sends me to a Sky page with no password option. I’m stuck in a loop.

Has anyone managed to fix this? Is it a Sky-side issue with IMAP access?

Are you saying Outlook on your phone isn't receiving emails?

Generated passwords are only really needed for classic Outlook on PC/laptop.

I have just installed Office 2013 on a new system and am setting up the email but my sky password does not work and sky appear to have removed the option to generate a 16-Digit Password

Did you enter the IMAP settings yourself or did it populate them for you ?

As @caesarome says, they do seem to have removed access to the generator again.

What are you installing Office on, if Windows 10 or 11, you can use the New Outlook instead. Windows now seems to default to that instead of the Classic Outlook, although possibly not with earlier versions of Office.

Do you still have a previous system with Outlook using a generated password, as it may be possible to recover the password from there.

I am installing on Windows 10. I do still have outlook on my old laptop but it is set up as POP3 and I cannot show or copy the password details. I have tried copying the exact details from the laptop with my current sky password but that does not work either.

I can't find a way to get the password from Outlook directly, but I use a little utility called Mail PassView from Nirsoft.

Your antivirus may flag it as a risk, so you will need to satisfy yourself if you choose to run it, but I've been using it for more years than I care to remember. The password will work for both POP and IMAP.

I have finally got round to downloading Mail PassView onto my laptop and have found a 16 digit password but when I try to add the account to Outlook 2013 on the PC it keeps bringing up the Save Password box.

I have tried POP3 and IMAP settings plus User Name with and without @Sky.com.but nothing works.

@Hels+Bells That is strange, as long as Outlook is working on the laptop you copied it from, then it should work on the new device.

Are you using the copy feature in MailPassview and copying/pasting it to a text file and then copy/pasting from that into the password field on the new device, just to be sure it is correct?

Or possibly some other setting is causing it to fail, could you show us the other settings, in case one of those is incorrect, Outlook seem to like setting SPA on, when it shouldn't be. Here are mine from Outlook 2003. (I'm definitely a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kind of guy)

The issue must be the app password, when I connected the old laptop to the wifi outlook would not download any emails, it have not been used for emials for nearly 6 years. I did find a different 16 digit password saved somewhere else but that did not work either.

I will have to admit defeat on this one and use thunderbird going forward, it's just that I am now of an age where I hate having to learn how to use something new when I have things set just as l like them.

It is a shame that Outlook was no longer working on the old laptop. What have you been using it on for the last 6 years?

Like yourself, I like to stick with what I'm used to, which is why I'm still using Outlook 2003.

I bought a desktop 6 years ago but I kept the laptop as it has a disc drive.

I activated Office 2013 on the new desktop in 2020 which is the same year as the last email on the laptop.

So, just what happened to the running Outlook on the 2020 desktop, or did you have to rebuild it?
