Turning OFF two stage verification.

I have heard so many people complaining about two stage verification. There are dozens of ways published to turn it ON but none to turn it off. The people who are complaininmg are like myself well past middle age, I am 87 and find the damed thing noithing but a nuisance. I live alone and nobody has access to my computer but me.

@bandchair unfortunately Sky have deemed two stage verification mandatory.

You can make it (a little) less annoying by signing in directly here: www.sky.com/signin/email

and ticking the 'remember me for 30 days' box. The trick is then to just close your browser without logging off when you've finished using email.

My ponder-of-interest is this 30 day sign in. Conventional wisdom of managing a risk to an account, as far as I recall, was always to sign out as I guess the argument was not signing out rendered an account still active. at the moment using jayach's suggestion of adding Google messages to web as a bookmark on the toolar means that I don't require to have my phone by my side, (but switched on though to pair the devices). Yet whilst i am on a 30day signed-in to my e-mail account - i am still forced to re-sign in again here if I sign out. my pondering over not signing out is liability - to potential damage if a site is hacked, & who carries responsibility is a signed-in for 720 hours is hacked. The question then does remaining signed in constitute a risk? I know with Amazon and ebay i have forgotten to sign out - discovered when going back on site. Whereas most other sites automatically sign you out when you close the tab. mind you I am pondering the risk and liability rather than screamng for change as that battle has been lost a long time ago as a corporate victory due to OFCOM pressure. Sorry to deviate the thread, but in the end when the inevitable hack occurs at SKY - what then if signed in? Again a ponder not a panic.

Most email accounts do not get hacked but what tends to happen if people reply to fake emails or calls saying they are from Sky and give out their login details so staying logged in on your device in home carries next to no risk.

The sign in for 30 days is not remembered at Sky's end, it will be via a cookie in your browser, so your fears are unwarranted.
