Sky / Yahoo email continually failing.

I have used my sky email address for many years now and it's been my go-to link for general purpose emails.
Over the last few months though it has become glitchy and sometimes fails to recognise my log in.
I have never seem have a problem when logging into to my email account via the Sky.com website but all my mail programs on desktop and laptop computers are having difficulties.

I am a Apple Mac User and use Apple's Mail program.
I would like to wipe all the details from my computers and start afresh and re-enter all my login details but I am findng it difficult to find all the required SMTP and IMAP settings.
I'm hoping that a general "spring clean" my get rid of all the glitches and login refusals that I have been suffering from.

Your image was rejected as the bottom of your email address is visible and could potentially be worked out. Please block that out and resubmit.

@Effers the fact that there's no problem when you log in via the website indicates that this is an app issue, rather than the Sky Yahoo Mail service itself.

There is a long outstanding, intermittent fault with Apple's Mail app which, when it occurs results in a 'server not found' error (thanks @jayach ). That might be what you're seeing on your devices.

I would not worry about the server details, any modern app/client will know the correct settings.

Just make sure you select the account as a Yahoo one, and a browser pop-up should ask for your username and password.

That is the OAuth challenge, and after that it should all work.

Am I correct in thinking that if I disable my Apple Mail Sky account and start again it would all work like magic ??

So I have chucked my old sky email account details out of Apple Mail and proceeded to set up a brand new account.

So go to Create new Account - put in my email address and I was immediately taken to Yahoo ! (Great - I think )
Put in password . Okay.
I get a message on my iPhone with a 6 digit code.
Input that into the computer.
Get a confirmation that I have completed 2 step verification

Fantastic .... ??

No !
I now have a Yahoo acount in my list of Accounts but it's OFFLINE and I can't see any **bleep** buttons or text fields to adjust it.
Opened the "Mail Connection Doctor" and under Yahoo I got the following messages ...

I am getting very confused

Good question.
I can't see the IMAP nor SMTP server details at all, which I find a bit strange , all dtails seem to be hidden from viewing.

BUT ....

Left the computer for an hour or so and when I came back the sky email was working !!!
Perhaps my fairy godmother popped in and fixed it.

OAuth is the latest method of authentication (sometimes call modern authentication), and doesn't rely on username and password. Instead it uses web security methods (that's why you were taken to Yahoo as part of the install, as that is where your emails are stored)

Glad you got it working, the delay in seeing the emails would probably be whilst it was syncing the app and server.

I thought I had a working email but no.
Despite it working for a while it has now failed again.
I didn't change anything but it has just ceased to work on my laptop and desktop computers. (Both Macs using the Mail program)

The iPhone works fine.
I don't know who to get angry with !!

This is so frustating :
My Sky/Yagoo account has worked for the past two days and yet this morning I am getting an error message on my account.
Opened the "Connection Doctor ", window in Mail (On MacOS 26.5) and I get the following explanation...

Just don't know how to fix this and the fact that it seems to be an intermittent fault is even more confusing.

@Effers intermittent issues with the Mail app are reported here regularly. I'd difch it and either log,in online via sky.com or use a different app.

As @Mark39 says server connection errors with the Apple email apps are reported on here frequently, and no one seem to be able to pin them down.

Apple users say "it only happens with Sky|Yahoo, so must be them".

Sky email users say "it only happens with App mail apps so it must be them".

I don't know if it also happens with "pure" Yahoo accounts, but searching has not brought any results.

Perhaps I'll try asking a few A.I.s.

For a while I thought it may have something to do with my VPN , so tried switching it off but that made no difference.

This morning Yahoo is working !👍

But for how long ? ...👎
