Sky authentication not excepting non UK phone number

I’m trying to access my Sky/Yahoo email account. Sky now wants two step verification. I do not have a UK or Irish phone number as I live outside of UK.

My account is now locked on the insert phone number screen for verification, and there seems no way to move forward.

Is there a way to cancel the two step system and access normally or some other way round it?

Please can anybody help

Sorry, Last thing. I obviously cant access my email to get replies so I will keep this open and wait by the computer

If you are using an a computer to access your emails then instead of logging into the Sky website try setting it up via the email app on your computer.

OK I'll try it now. I did spend half an hour on the phone to sky. But i just tried to log in again and the message is back.

Tried the other email app strategy and the same thing happens. I get the verify with UK phone number. Very annoying

Yes it does seem using an app instead doesn't work.

If it uses OAuth, the challenge takes you to Sky to complete it.

~~If it needs a generated password, the generator also needs 2FA.~~ (it seems generated passwords do not need 2FA currently, I doubt that will last long)

It does seem that anyone without a UK/IE phone number is stymied.

Same, if you don't have a phone at all.

I have exactly the same issue as I do not have a UK smartphone.

So now cannot access my emails at all.

This is veru serious and needs to be fixed.

Yes it's a pain. I didn't know that sky doesn't have any international customer.

Surely someone must have solved this. Or had the same problem.

Obviously the easy answer is to find someone in the UK who will let you use their mobile number. And they can text you the cod3. Maybe after login you can change the mobile number used for verification purposes.

Hi All. Does anyone know how to sign in to sky yahoo mail by using the recovery code.

I have the email address.

I have the password.

I have the recovery code.

But I don't have a UK/IE phone.

There just be a way

Hi Mathew. Did you get a resolution. I guess you also have a lifetime of emails you can't get to.

Same issue. I got told that 2FA can only be turned off by calling, which would cost a fortune.

If it is turned off, the very next access will require you to turn it on again. it is now mandatory. (AFAIK)

So, once we finaly access the email server. Is it possible to add a dedicated number that sky will use for verification? And can that number be non. UK/IE?

The obvious question is why will Sky only let its customers use UK/IE number. Gmail does.

Is there any way to export my whole email account to yahoo. To sever the connection to sky as it were. Or some other email provider. Like Gmail.

At the moment without a UK/IE phone there is no way so in the meantime you might be able to access your emails via an app instead unless it wants to send you a code when setting this up which it might do.

OK everyone.

I think I have sorted out. But unfortunately this may not help Matthew Robinson.

One of my mates still had a UK number.

So I managed to log in to the sky email server.

Then as Caesarome suggested, and after the POP IMAP thing Jayach mentioned. I opened MS outlook.(yes I know).

I fed my sky email in to outlook. Outlook then asked me to open my tab with my sky email on. And BANG. It download everything. Folders, files, emails, the lot.

I then restarted the PC and outlook fetched the emails fine. So... So far so good.

One thing I will mention is that after you log in to the sky email. it will let you change the phone number. but only to (yep you guessed it) a UK/IE one.

This is the only workaround I can come up with.

Anyway. thanks for everyones help and advice.

That would be something. At least I could tell my contacts my new email address elsewhere, since the Sky Yahoo one is now useless
