Cant access sky yahoo email. It keeps tryong to semd 2 step verification code to my old phone number

Cant access sky yahoo email. It keeps tryong to semd 2 step verification code to my old phone number., but the problem is I no longer have access to my old phone number. I have tried updating my phone number, but still keeps sending to old phone number.

I urgently need access to my emails

If you kept a separate note of your Recovery Code as Sky recommended, you can use it to turn off 2 step verification and set it up again with your new mobile number.

To update your phone number you will first need to turn this off so you will need to sign in with recovery code you were asked to make a note of when you se this up so at the login select "can't sign in with the code" link. You'll then be asked for the recovery code.

When you signed up to 2FA you were given a recovery code so if you didn't make a note of it then check the email you were also sent.

Lost your recovery code and mobile number? You will not be able to access your account until you prove you own it by other means. This is part of the protection Two Step Verification provides, and because of the added security it could take up to 21 days to get access again.

I don't remember having a recovery code. Also this would of been a long time ago.

So basically if I do not have this code, then there is no way of getting into my email?

I think Sky only started 2 step authentication about a year ago if that and it was on the screen when you set it up then you needed to make a note of the recovery code so as you haven't access to this all you can do is to call Sky as they should be able to help, your only issue now is talking to someone who knows the process as apparently not all advisors do so do not let them fob you off by saying you need to go to Yahoo as they will be unable to help with Sky email email accounts.

It wouldn't have been that long ago, Sky's 2 step verification was introduced within the last 12 months. Without the Recovery Code, you'll need to contact Sky, as @caesarome posted. There's a specialist team that deals with such situations, but they're not directly contactable, and knowledge of their existence seems to be patchy, so it may take a bit of perseverance.

Well i must pf accidentally lost the recovery code. I was on phone call to sky yesterday for 35 mins. Still not sorted

When you login to your email account the verification code with be sent to your mobile phone so the one whose number you provided when setting this up.

@Marybush as @caesarome posted the Verification Code is automatically sent when you try to log in. However, there's a fault affecting some customers who don't receive the Code once it has been sent. If you're one of those affected, you can use your Recovery Code if you made a note of it, to turn off 2 step login until the fault is fixed.

The verification code will be sent to your registered phone number when to try to login.

However, due to a problem at Sky, not everyone is receiving the codes.

If you are affected, the only option is to contact Sky, and ask them to turn off 2FA for you.
