Old emails appearing in inbox

I have over 535 emails in my inbox, which have either been moved to a folder or deleted. When I try to select them and move back to the folder, they are already there but are also in my inbox, dating back to 2021. How do I sort this? Need help but can't find anything in Yahoo help to resolve this issue.

@TerriLee I suspect you're using an email app to access your emails? Try logging in online here and removing/moving them from your Inbox online. That way they won't keep being sent again to your email app. www.sky.com/signin/email

If, as @Mark39 surmises, you are using an app, which one is it and are you using IMAP or POP?
