it says restricted on messages, and refers me back to homepage when I try to read emails, even though it registers that I'm signed in

@steve584 that's the message usually displayed when the system can't find an email account linked to your login details. It does look, I'm afraid, as though your email account has been closed. That doesn't happen as a result of leaving Sky, but can happen if your account appears to be inactive for more than 12 months. Logging in via an email app or client, rather than via sky.com can appear to Sky as inactivity. They do warn you by email of impending closure.
