We recently cancelled Sky TV but kept the broadband on so that we could retain our email addresses. I can access them through the Sky website, Outlook and Mailbird on the computer which doesn't help if I'm out and about. My wife has the same make and model of phone and doesn't seem to be having any problems with hers.
