today i found i can't log onto my old sky.com email address ? could this have been deleted ? i use it every day.

No it hasn't been deleted as there have been major issues logging into Sky email accounts today as you can see here:

Some have said that they can login to mail.yahoo.com instead using the same details. If that doesn't work you should be able to access your account via an app or program like Outlook as that is not affected by these issues.
