incorrect display name on email

when people receive an email from me it says 'from' a different name to that of my email address. the display name is a company that i used to work for years ago. how do i change this please? i have tried everything in settings etc and i cannot see my old company name anywhere in my account settings. this happens when i send emails from my sky.com account on my iphone and my windows desktop. thanks

Go to Settings > More Settings > Mailboxes (you'll need to do this on a desktop or laptop pc, or use your device's desktop mode to see this).

Click on your Sky Yahoo Mail mailbox, and then check the 'Your Name' setting.

HI Mark thanks for your reply, I have done this and my name is appearing correctly but when an email is sent from this account it does not show this (my) name, it shows a company name that I worked for 5 years ago. I'm so confused!

You could give Sky a call - you can find the number via the 'need more help' dropdown here: https://www.sky.com/help/home

But I'd suggest leaving it to later, as I'm sure others here on the forum will be able to help (and in all honesty I'm doubtful Sky will!)

How are you sending these emails, do you use an app or login to the Sky website ?

The setting @Mark39 has given is definately the usual cause of this problem.

Is this where you checked.

@jayach yes this is exactly where I went in and checked and all the information is correct. there is no mention of my old company name anywhere. i don't even know how long the problem has been happening for...maybe years!

In that case you need to look n the settings on both devices as someone your sending name needs changing on both of them.

Have you tried sending an email via the web interface and seeing if that is O.K.?

@jayach yes ive tried sending every way and they all have the incorrect display name. I can't find anywhere on the mail app on my iPhone, to check any settings for the sky email account but I've checked on the sky/yahoo mail website on my laptop and it's all set up correctly

If it is occurring when you send via webmail there really is nowhere, other than the setting already identified, that can be causing it. It has me stumped.

@jayach I know, me too! This is a first having to use a community forum. I usually manage to work issues out. I may just open another email account and phase this one out. Shame though as I've had it for many years.

Try changing that "your name" setting to something different, and send an email to see if it changes.

@jayach thought this was a very good idea! I have just done it and the test email I sent myself into another email account is still showing the sender as my old company name! despite changing 'your name' in the settings.

Did you send it via the webmail?

It really seems impossible for it not to use that setting as the name if it is sent via the webmail.

The only possibility I can think of is you may have created alternate sending addresses in the past.

In this picture you can see I have created some alternatives, so check your setting there and see if you have anything similar.

@jayach yes i did send through webmail and i checked the page that you kindly screenshotted last night and it all looks fine, no alternative addresses. i think i will have to get someone in to help me as I don't think sky will be able to help or try and create another sky email address 😪 but i love the one i've got, ive had it for years and it's just my name, no numbers, so its perfect! i really appreciate the time you've put in to help me

I'm equally baffled, I'm afraid. Just a note to warn you that you won't be able to create a new Sky Yahoo email address, I'm afraid. Sky no longer allow new email addresses.
