Switching over from FTTC to SOGEA

I would be most grateful for your help. I have FTTC and have just recontracted with Sky and am switching over to SOGEA. I understand from Sky that I am going to receive a conversion kit and have been told by an agent that this is a cable which fits into the broadband port of my BT socket and then into the back of my SR203 (black router). I have a Panasonic DECT phone unit and I thought all I had to do was to unplug the telephone cable from the telephone port of the OpenReach socket and plug it into the telephone port on the back of the router. My OpenReach socket is an MK4 socket which has two separate ports, one for broadband and the other for the phone and does not require a micro filter. Can you tell me if I need to actually change the broadband cable. Many thanks for your help.,

@jewers I think the agent may be confused with the FTTP conversion kit, if it is only calls going digital on the FTTC service your phone just plugs into the UK Phone port on the hub.

Your hub will remain connected to the current socket as it is now

There is no need for a new cable unless of course you're actually upgrading to FTTP Full Fibre (with increased speeds of up 900mbps available over fibre).

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I would love to have FTTP but the OpenReach checker says that there are no plans to build in my area at the present time.

Same here. To be fair my 63Mbps FTTC works pretty well for me.

They kept showing that for my area then suddenly there they were, installing fibre 🙂

One thing I have just thought of. As I am an existing customer with FTTC and Sky Talk, and have today recomtracted for a further 24 months, will my landline number automatically transfer over to SOGEA? I. forgot to ask the agent re this. As before your help is much appreciated.
