I transferred my phone & broadband connection to Sky on 16 April & was told that my number could be transferred. I had had the number for 46 years so it was absolutely essential to keep it. I would never have agreed to transfer to Sky had they told me that my number would be lost.

They told me that I'd be given the chance to choose my transfer date but they cut off my Vodafone service the following morning, leaving without any service until a Sky router had arrived. When connected, the phone did not work, my incoming number had been cut off.

I contacted their 150 number & a man with a strong Indian accent told me that it would take 24 hours to get the phone sorted. I gave it several days, without phone, before getting through to a woman who told me the order would need to be repeated to get the phone working. Nothing happened.

I complained to the CEO but got no reply from her. After multiple attempts by me to get this sorted it became apparent that a new number had been allocated without my agreement and without telling me.

I was force to cancel the contract, having lost my phone number, thanks to Sky.

Although I cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period and never received any phone service, Sky are still sending threatening e-mails demanding 2 months' rental 👿

This company is the worst I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

I have just switched from Vodafone to Sky and asked Sky to keep my landlines number. They have ignored my request and given a new number. Can I insist that Sky give me the old landline number? I get the feeling that Sky ignore their customers.?

They do ignore and they need to be brought to justice.

My experience was buried into another thread.

You can reclaim your old number by cancelling and re-contracting. Doing so you will lose all benefits of on-line contracts (cheaper and possibly with vouchers). And you will be without connectivity for about 10-15 days.

@DaveAA That's unfortunate. If your existing number isn't 'ported' from your previous provider, a new number is assigned from the outset so that the switch to Sky can go ahead.

The woman you spoke to was correct - to retrieve your number, your service has to be cancelled and set up again from scratch. That takes 10 days or so, during which you have no broadband or phone service. I've no idea why that wasn't carried out, if you requested it.

There's no rental or any other charge for the telephone service, unless you had signed up to a call package. I can only assume the charges you're being chased for are for broadband.
