Why do sky not have an adapter to connect landline phone to the hub wirelessly when BT have been supplying one for years

@JB591 it's a question for Sky and they're unlikely to respond via this customer Community. So far as I'm aware it's only BT/EE that provide one.

@JB591 if you're intent on an answer you'll have to go back to Sky to ask. We customers here simply don't know the reason behind it.

However, in all honesty, I'm not sure what you'll gain by knowing, even if you do get an answer from Sky. Are you having a particular problem with your setup that we might be able to help with?

Probably because of all the ISPs only BT (and by extension EE) has over a century of heritage in building telephone hardware. It's just not an area of business which Sky or other BT competitors want to be involved in.

I've often wondered the same and thought the same as you as Sky never made traditional phones, however they could surely in theory get someone else to manufacture it for them ? just like plusnet wireless routers are made by BT and Sky products aren't all made by Sky.

@Tommy2 sure, but just because they could doesn't, mean they would or should. Too much hassle for not enough reward in an already competitive market.

Plusnet, like EE, is a brand owned by BT Group.

Supplying telecoms hardware opens up a whole new realm of regulatory compliance, logistics and support overhead which no other ISP appears to consider viable.

Yeah I understand planet is owned by BT, I just mean that Sky have a lot of products made by other companies such as their wireless routers and Sky boxes so the fact they don't manufacture or develop them directly shouldn't affect it too much. But I suppose most people that still want a landline phones (which probably isn't all that much) are more than happy using a DECT phone with it.
