Cancel sky talk anytime

I wish to get rid of my landline phone alltogether, so wish to cancel Talk sky talk anytime extra, but iv read on other threads that Sky would put me on a different tarrif like pay as you go, but i dont want to be put on any tarrif as i dont want to pay for it or be charged for line rental, i only use my mobile phone with vodafone, how do i cancel sky talk anytime extra, as it seems a bit confusing if im still charged for line rental and tarrif i would be as well go with another broadband profider, can anyone help and put it in simple terms please thank you.

@wanbli if you switch to the Pay as you Talk tariff, you won't be paying for Sky's landline service unless you make any calls. Just call (free) on 150 to switch to PAYT.

You'll still pay line rental as part of your broadband subscription, because you're still using your telephone line to deliver your broadband service. I don't believe any provider separately specifies line rental charges any more, so wouldn't charge you differently.

Sky Talk is already bundled together with Sky Broadband. You can't cancel the Talk side of things totally without cancelling Broadband as well. Just make sure you're on the Sky Pay As You Talk tariff (call Sky if you're not). That way if you make no calls there are no Sky Talk charges. (The Pay As You Talk tariff is the default tariff when you join).

You can disconnect your landline handset if you wish but keep it handy in case you need to call Sky as the calls would be free.

Would Sky charge me for the landline if i disconect my landline, as my broadband does work with it disconected. thanks

As we've said if you are on the Pay As You Talk tariff you will only be charged for calls you make (obviously except freephone numbers and calls to Sky).

@wanbli do you mean you've disconnected your landline phone? That makes no difference to what Sky charge you.

All you need to do is switch to Pay as you Talk.

So those 11 calls you made in that billing period would be charged (and quite expensive) if you made them via your landline after changing tariff to PAYT.

@wanbli that's pretty normal.

As you can see, Sky Talk Anytime Extra is the only thing you're being charged for in relation to Sky Talk (landline).

If you change to Pay as you Talk, you'll save the £18 charge. Everything else will stay the same.

Hi i managed to get through to Sky and change the landline, but sky are so good at muddling my brain so iv ended up with Sky fibre now it was bit hard for me to understand the guys accent, not his fault but mine as im not good at catching all he said as he talked fast, anyway i think iv a new contract with a speedy internet, and all for same price as paying at moment, thank you for your help

Hi Mark iv ended up with sky fibre optic internet, i kinda only went on the phone to change the talk anytime extra to pay as you talk, which i managed but ended up with the fibre optic which would probably be good, the thing is if i change my mind and want to cancel, the email they sent confuses me, the openreach engineer is coming out on the 5th june, but it says cancel within 14 days, im not sure if they mean 14 days from today, or when the new router comes or when the new fibre is installed.. here below is what they say about cancelling. if you could have a look as im very confused, im not saying il cancel as i want to talk to openreach to see how they put the wire into my house.

Right to cancel

You have the right to cancel your order for Sky Broadband without giving any reason any time up to 14 days ("cooling off period") from the later of: (i) delivery of your Wireless Router; (ii) activation; or (iii) receipt of the relevant terms and conditions for that product/service. Sky may offer an enhanced cooling off period from time to time which we will advise you of at the time of your purchase. If you take fibre-based Sky Broadband and you request an engineer appointment, a separate cancellation policy applies to installation services which is contained in the Sky Fibre Broadband Installation Terms and Conditions.

If you cancel a contract during your cooling off period we will refund to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery of any equipment you ordered e.g. your Wireless Router ("Equipment"), but if you requested a service to begin during the cooling off period, you must pay us an amount which is proportionate to the service provided up to the point you cancelled your order, including any chargeable Sky Talk calls you have made. You will not receive a refund for any one-off fees for activation or set up services if you cancel a service after activation.

We will make any refund due to you (less any deductions due to us) without undue delay and not later than the earliest of 14 days after the day we either receive the Equipment back from you or receive evidence from you that the Equipment has been returned (such as a proof of posting receipt). We will make the refund using the same means of payment that you used when you placed your order, unless you have agreed otherwise.

You may end this contract during your minimum term without paying early termination charges if we make a change which is not exclusively to your benefit unless it is purely administrative in nature or directly imposed by law and we have notified you of that right.

If you decide to cancel or switch either your Sky Talk or your Sky Broadband services to another provider, both will be cancelled at the same time unless we tell you otherwise. You will not be able to re-order Sky Broadband without Sky Talk.
