topic Move to VIOP in Talk

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can answer a question for me, I don't use my Sky fixed line phone very often, but on the occasion that I did I noticed there was no dialing tone , when calling my number you can hear the ring tone which I'm assuming the line is ok but it's not connecting to my fixed line phone, has my number be moved over to the new digital platform? Which now means having to make calls via my sky router? My dky router only has 2 ethernet ports so I'm not able to plug my phone line in, I've not had any contact from sky regarding any changes, any assistance would be appreciated, sorry for the long drawn out essay, thank you in advance.

I'd think that's a line fault.

Moving to Sky Talk Internet Calls would result in the despatch of a compatible router.

@Mr+murp it sounds like a line fault, as @TimmyBGood posted. You could try this simple connection test. It's really designed for broadband faults, but sometimes picks up faults that can affect your phone service. If it detects a fault, you'll be able to book an engineer online.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-diagnostic-start

If it doesn't detect an issue, you can either report it by phone (mobile) to Sky, or we can ask their messaging team to contact you here, so that you can report it via a private chat.

Perhaps note that's a Q Hub which is obsolete anyway.

If you still have an outdated Sky Q hub, those old hubs no longer receive security updates so Sky sent out emails / letters in early 2025 offering a free upgrade. My Sky Broadband hub arrived within days in February 2025.
