    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I am currently with utility warehouse for broadband and phone calls on an analogue line. I now have fibre in my area.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I want to move to sky for fibre and calls but I want to use my own router (not sky's). I believe the digital voice will not work as I need to use skys router. I don't want a double NAT set up etc.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Should I register with a seperate VOIP service and keep my number. What order shoud I do the switch. I am assuming if I move to sky, utlity warehouse will automatically close my broadband and phone line with them and i'll lose my number. If I move my number to a VOIP service first UW will close my broadband. If I move everything to sky - eg fibre plus my phone number - can I then move just the phone number to a VOIP service?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;What is the best order to do this?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thank you&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I'm not sure how you're going to achieve what you want to do. If you switch to Sky and ask to keep your number (by no means a certainty that it will actually happen from previous posts here),&amp;nbsp; I don't think you'll subsequently be able to port the number to a VOIP provider without cancelling your Sky broadband service.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The same might well happen if you try to port it first from UW, as you suspect.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You could investigate switching to Sky, but&amp;nbsp;&lt;EM&gt;not&lt;/EM&gt; asking to keep your number. In theory, UW will keep your unattached number available for 30 days before returning it to the pool. You might be able, during that time, to port it to a VOIP provider.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for the reply.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;do you think I can ask Sky to setup my fibre as a NEW line. That way they don't cancel the Utility warehouse copper line and number but set it up in addition to it. Then I can just port my phone number to a VOIP and cancel the old line?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I don't know what their position is (or Openreach's) on leaving an obsolete copper telephone line in place while your home is served by a full fibre connection.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
